Abstract art does not always have an distinguish focus. Instead, colors, forms, lines, curves, mixed media materials, textures, and the imagination of the artist are the focus and elements of the creativity shown on canvas. The artist who use action painting was Jackson Pollock and Willem De Kooning who focused on an intensely expressive style of gestural painting. The more passive “color-field” painters, notably Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman and Clyfford Still, who were concerned with reflection and mood.
